Q: Back up methods and bc

Do you have to wait a week every month (or use backup) before your BC is effective?

No. Once you have been using your pills for at least a month, you are protected every day of the week AS LONG AS you are always taking your pills correctly. This means that you are protected every day of your placebo week, and even on the first day of your new packet.
