Hi there

A bit of advice on back exercises/possible medical options would be really appreciated.

I'm 21, 6'2" and 16 stone. That said I am also a forestry worker and chainsaw operator and have been brought up farming so am, without bragging, built like a brick shithouse. Anyway, the nature of my work is very physical and I also do a lot of work at home, trees, hedges, horses (not trimming those though) and the usual. Recently, have found my lower back has really started to burn on occasions, after long periods of bucking (bending down to cut timber to length) and also when I walk uphill for long distances, with or without a pack. In every other way I'm physically fit and also strong, but this is really starting to get me down. Advice on posture or some good stretching exercises?

Cheers

Back Pain - Posture
Hi Exeterlad,

I would suggest you do some traction: hanging off something to allow your back to stretch out.

You may also consider doing exercises to bring your neck back over your shoulders; thickening up your traps.
