Back pain relief with heat , fragrant oils , and massage

List of other diseases, conditions, or injuries and their treatment: I suffered from spine and back pain recently am experiencing numbness in the legs

Back pain can be caused by problems with back muscles, joints between the vertebra, spinal disc herniation or degenerative disc disease. The pain can be treated in several different ways. Applying heat might provide a short-term relief. It is most effective when the pain is mostly due to back muscles spasm. You might also want to visit your family doctor for long term use of analgesics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or muscle relaxants. Side-effects that might influence your current health status might decide which one is best for you.

Massage might also prove helpful. During massage, oils containing eucalyptus, or menthol can be used. The mentioned substances cause local vasodilatation, thus increasing the local blood flow and bringing more heat to the area to relax the muscles.

However, most of these methods can bring short-term relief of pain. If the problem is mechanical like in spinal disc herniation, surgery is the only way to solve the pain problem forever.

Considering that you experience numbness in your legs, you might want to visit an orthopedist or neurologist and consult if the nerves are affected and if surgery is needed.
