hi denise
i would get another opinion. what kind of dr did you see. you need to see orthopedic or neuro surgeon who specializes on the spine. the dr that looked at your mri may have missed a problem you have. you may need further testing. what you describe to me sounds like a disc injury in the lower lumbar of your spine. no lifting or sitting for long periods of time. try to walk just to keep loose. i hope the new dr gives you a diagnosis so you can start treatment. i have a feeling physical therapy will help you.....good luck....pete

denise...
i cant tell you how many people have been through what you have, mri is good so theres no problem. like i said before get 2nd opinion. some people go to a half dozen surgeons before the doc says ""OOH here it is. minor bulge in disk lets check this out further"". dont stand pat. keep looking for answer. the pain sitting is symptom of disk. relief standing is symptom too. plus terrible pain when this all started. sometime the disc injury doesnt even show up on mri and doc has to do further testing. maybe this will all get better on its own. 95% of all disc problems go away after 3 years. physical therapy may help. also there are shots that can help but you really should try to get a proper diagnosis.....pete

Really 95% of back pain goes away after 3 years?
What if everything is herniated? Does that go away? I have heard of natural fusion but don't know how long it takes to collapse or how long to heal afterward. Do you have any clue?
I know before I had mine herniated I should have rested so that they did NOT buldge, then herniate.
I had a lot of trouble with the injections but, that is just me. I have a lot of reactions to meds. Turns out I can't take steroids. At least not in injection form. I do try to avoid them if I can. It makes it hard though because I am stuck with acetomenophen.
I would appreciate any help you have to give me people. Thanks,
Bamm

BAMM...3 years is a heck of a long time.
heres my thought on waiting it out...monitor your progress or lack of progress. keep in close contact with your spine specialist to keep an eye on any nerve damage. thats your biggest worry as the longer the nerves are pressed the more chance of permanent damage. hope you can bring the 3 years down to one year....pete
if your pain isnt improving talk with surgeon regarding likelyhood of it turning around. everyones different and respond differently to conservative treatment so keep in very close touch with dr so you can deside whether surgery is a better option.

Denise, I agree with Pete. Take those MRI's to another doctor and get a second opinion. Is the pain only in your right hip or is is more on the right side of your back? If its the right side of the low back, sounds like a kidney stone acting up.. I sometimes mistake mine for my kidney stones. Now, if you start throwing up and cant sit, stand and etc and can't control your breathing then its passing. If the 2nd opinion give the all clear, then its possible that it could be that. You could try seeing a Urologist for that if all clear of anything else. Good luck!
