Dear DR,
I have 35 years and suffer from erectile dysfunction for 2 years. I am married for 10 years and have kids. First problem started 6 years from now, like not having hard erections, but it was always sufficient for intercourse. I thought that could be that I lost a pasion, because I am too long with the same person (my wife), and that this is somehow normal, but 2 years ago it happened> com[letly lost my erection during intercourse. And 3 or 4 time again, always first getting erection, and then loosing it after 1 or 2, minute always during intercourse. I have started using Cialis, and started with 10mg doses, and the start it was good, but latter (6 months ago)I had to increase to 20, and last time it did not help me. The same thing with other PDE 5 inhibitors. I have visited urologist, and he performed some tests (I believe Ultra Sound)(injecting Caverject) and got 50% erection from 5mg dose. He said that my vascular system is OK, prostate also. He had no specific conclusion. What I forgot to mention to him that I have chronic back pain, and last week I did MRI of the lumbar spine and dorsomedilal discal hernia L5&Sl was revealed(protrusion not extrusion) I have a some questions>
1. What could be the most usual cause of having problem with maintaining (not achieving) erections and how to deal with it?
2. What could be the reason for failing PDE 5 inhibitors therapy after some time of success?
3. What does your practice shows: how often is lumbar discal hernia (or back pain) reason for ED>
4. Are there any news considering K max gene therapy for ED.
Thanks in advance

I am not a doctor but read your post..If you are on pain meds that could affect you and cause this problem..Pain alone can cause problems..

Time together is not an issue my husband and i have been married 39 years..Normal is finding answers..I would think that you might need to see a 2nd uroloigst for another opinion or see the smae person and tell them you need help and tell them about your back..Write everything down and take it with you..Leaving out the back issue is relevant..

Could you all need to add more romance to your lives..You could bring roses, make dinner, give a rub.etc..Please don't tell me you can;t because of the back as I have upper and lower discs herniated and other issues--it can be done IF you want it bad enough..good luck..kd
