Hi guys,
I am a 42 year old fitness instructor with chronic back and sciatic pain. I recently had a discectomey about six months ago. returned to work 3 months later but back pain is now back with a vengeance. I am unable to walk or sit and pain is in left leg down to foot with numbness in toes. After my op i suffered with foot drop in left foot due to nerve damage and i am concerned about the damage that is being done again.I have been advised to see a orthopedic spinal specialist. any views on this? i am also thinking of going to the luklinski clinic in london. Has anyone heard anything about him? I am due to see my surgeon again soon but i really do not want to have to have another operation. what can i do?

on the Luklinksi clinic in london, please see the link below to a prior post with information about the clinic.
Also read the link in one of the threads about the clinic. from what that link says it does not sound like a good place to go and based on info from a British investigation.

As for you pain, it sounds like you may have the disc problem again. that can happen after a disectomy.

It is also possible that you have spinal stenosis and have nerves being compressed.

Sounds like it would be a good idea to get another opinion from a really reputable spine surgeon.

An orthopedic surgeon that specializes in spines only would be a good idea to see.

A fresh set of eyes never hurts

You may or may not need more surgery. Only a spine surgeon can answer that for you and you will probably need a new MRI as well.

None of us want to have surgery of any kind, but if it is the only way to obtain any pain relief and return you to a functioning life, then it may be your only choice other than to live with the pain.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

I had a disectomy last April and am still having back pain.
I still get pins and needles in my bits and cannot feel my leg shin or my toes.
the doctor says that there is nothing wrong, its because i have severe nerve damage, and that they are still repairing themselves.
My back is sore most days on and off. I just want to get better.
