Greetings everyone,

I am looking to be in touch with people who have been through back ligaments injuries.

I suffer from a sacroiliac injury, and since it is a very rare condition, I would like to speak with other injured people. I mainly want to exchange on symptoms, healing process, things to do to speed up the healing, medications, treatment and so on.

I hope to hear from someone soon.
Regards,
Gen

Back Injuries-Sacroiliac ligaments
Hi Bikegirl,

I once believed I suffered from this, but as yet, have not had a true diagnosis.

I have read up on conservative treatments for ligament injuries and there is a lot of hoopala surrounding prolotherapy. You may want to look into this as a possible treatment.

From personal experience, it didn't work for me, but that's not to say it won't help you.

Do your research first though.

In my view it is the most common condition but only poorly recognized. And as many experts keep telling, it is touching about 80% of all people. Many horses, cats, dogs and other animals suffer it too.

You have to be more specific about what kind of an SIJ injury you have?
I had ilium upslip meaning SIJ was out of position. I had twisted pelvis, scolisos, lordosis and other leg short because if this.

I searched help about 15 years running in doctors, PTS, etc without anyone realising what was the problem that caused my pains. Finally I found an expert and it was corrected by pushing it down back to its place. That day was the first day of my new life without pains!

Expatient,

I am intrigued by your story. Did you sustain an injury that caused your SI joints to slip out of position? Who was this expert that pushed the joints back into place, and was he a chiropractor?

I am still of the opinion that I may suffer from this condition and would like all the information possible to understand it and hopefully fix it. Please let me know more about this.

Thanks.

I think I had it since childhood. I was at age 12 when I was diagnosed scoliosis and bad posture.

I had been in chiropractor and naprapath. Both said I have "something" wrong in my pelvis and tried to do something. It didn't help.
Finally I found an old MD of physical therapy and he corrected it.

Well, it was not quite that simple. It slipped out few times and I had to have readjustments. But now it has been over 3 years without pain.

Thanks for your information.

The thing about my injury is that I don't know exactly what I have, no one so far, has been able to pin point the exact ligament injured. All I can say is that it hurts my towards L4-L5 and all the way through my belly button. My right hip is painful too and it goes down both of my legs. I feel the pain right in the middle of my body around my belly button.

When I work out (cardio training) both of my feet become extremely numb. I always push through the pain and the numbness barriers and try to work as hard as I can to get whatever is stuck unstucked!

I consulted with over 10 different physiotherapist, 3 chiro, 4 ostheopath, 1 Rolfer, 1 orthotherapist. I have also tried acunpuncture. They all agree that there is something wrong in my pelvis mostly on my right side but nothing I have tried worked.

I have also been all the MRI, Scan and nuclear medicine tests which all came normal. I consulted with 5 different sports doctors and some back specialtist and they all looked at me with a dear in the headlights look not knowing what to tell me.

To this day I am still searching for an answer.

Hi Bikegirl,

This is just my random guess, but maybe you have trigger points along your psoas muscle.

Hello Bikegirl,

The ONE doctor who you have not seen is the one with the BEST information and knowledge about the spine - a Spinal Surgeon. That is unless by "back specialist" you mean a spinal surgeon, and that does mean a doctor with MD after his/her name.

Sorry, but I don't give the ones you mentiioned that you have seen very high marks.

Now seek out the VERY BEST spinal surgeon in your area. Make an appointment with that doctor. Then make an appointment with the spinal surgeon next on your list. It is always a good idea to get a second opinion.

You definitely have a problem in your pelvis. I'd say you have left ilium uplift. It causes right leg to be functionally longer. That's why your right side hurts. That's why psoas/piriformis is tight and that is the cause of hip joint pain too. That is the most common way. Ofcourse it can be other way around too, or both iliums are uplifted. And no surgeon or doctor knows about this problem. They don't even believe such exists.

Go lie down and ask someone to check if your feet are equal. Also when sitting on floor legs straight you may see asymmetry in the position of your feet.

Thanks Rich T.

I will keep that in mind. I will ask for some referral from my family doctor.

thanks Expatient.

who knows about this problem if the doctors and surgeons don't?

I also believe that they don't know about this condition or just simply refuse to believe it can happen, I have been through so many appointments...all rewarded with such disappointment. I have found someone with the same condition on youtube. He and I been talking and we both have the same injury. Hopefully one of us will have the solution and will be able to help the other.

I must say that I have been doing a lot of cardio training lately and I feel a major difference. It is very painful to workout like that and most of time I am in deep pain afterwards, but in the morning, when I wake up, I do feel a difference. And each time I hop on my cardio machine I do feel that my body is working differently then the time before. The pain seems to slowly go away each time I work out. (Note: I worked out intensively for 2 years, until I couldn't recuperate fast enough, then stopped for one year and I am now back at it for the past month. My next goal is to incorporate my weight training with my cardio training together in order to get back to the workouts I was doing a year ago).

As for my feet, I do see an asymmetry in them one rotates inward (the right one), but I can't get confirmation from any specialist, they say that I am being too strong about it and that it is a normal rotation. (yeah right!!!). As for the length, they must be pretty equal, because no one in all the people I have seen saw anyting. Last time I was in physical therapy, I have had weekly treatment for 3 months in a row and he would check the length of my legs at the beginning and end of each treatment.

Some manual therapists like manual PTs, osteopaths or chiros. But only very few of them.

For me it took 15 years until I found one...

It has many names and some people call their treatment with same name but do it wrong. It's called sacroiliac joint manipulation.

In YouTube there are some videos of it.

Ok, I had a doctor's appointment today and I got a referal for a spinal surgeon.

I also contacted Diane Lee's clinic in Vancouver, anyone know her? I hear she is a guru of the sijoint injuries. I asked for a referal to someone in Montreal. I am now investigting that.

I came across some information on prolotherapy. Anyone has something to say about that? I hear it is specific for tendons and ligaments. Anyway I am curious to hear about people's experiences and opinions.

SI Injury - My Found Cure
I have had 2 back surgeries for herniated discs... 2nd surgery failed. Got drop foot. left foot extensor muscle paralyzed... numb foot.. the surgeries were about 3 years apart.

Before my second surgery I had major sacroiliac pain.. i thought it would go away, it didn't. My doc gave me a shot in my SI and it went away in a day... but about a week later.. I was in the hostpital because of reherniated disc and had surgery.. (when I got the drop foot.

Ever since the surgery, my sacroiliac area.. to my spine and up the left side of my spine would ache.. it made me stand crooked.. and hurt bad.. I could not do a sit up. Getting up out of bed I had to roll on to my front them get on my knees.. I would go through episodes.. and I would throw it out frequently.. it would take some time to "gel up" but would never fully heal.. chronic.. I searched and searched for an answer for years.. nothing.. i hoped to find something that would cure it.. like a stretch or anything.. but nothing worked. It was ruining my life an I was learing to accept it.. awful pain..

Well, One day I FOUND the answer. I was looking up acupressure points for lower back pain thinking I had nothing to lose. Well I saw the acupressure spot right on my SI.. one website called the spot the "Black Eye" spot.. weird.. well I pressed the spot with my knuck for about 5 minutes while at work in my chair.. I noticed that the pain all of a sudden was remarkedly better... CRAZY.. I thought maybe it was a coincidence that I was feeling better. When I got home from work, I took this steel ball i have, maybe 2.5 inches in diameter and layed on my back and put it under me so it would press on that spot.. did it for a half an hour.. I got up.. I WAS CURED! Unbelievable.. I had to share this and will continue to do so.. I had sufferd for about 4 years with the pain and debilitation.. and something this simple cured it.. I am beside myself with happyness! Anything that changes your life remarkedy I call a miracle.. I am about to have a baby with my wife, and feel I will be able to play with my soon to be kid.. I was worried about this.. It's is a freakin miracle.

I am so happy.. I can do situps.. I can sit up in bed.. I can run around and lift things all with out pain or the worry of agravating it and throwing it out.. I stand perfectly straight.. and stopped taking all the aspirin and ibuprofen I had had been eating every day (this is after 3 years of oxycontin).. it used to be so bad, that I would stand totally crooked..

I am in a happy mood and am able to be much more active..

I am so glad that I continued to look for an answer.. Acupressure worked on my SI pain completely.. I don't know how.. I dont know if it was out of aline or what.. all I know is it worked..

I had to share this. Try it.. good luck!
