My baby was 10 days over and was delivered by ventouse delivery in which there was swelling to his head which felt soft for about 5 weeks. He is 8 weeks now and the swelling has gone down but his skull is raised were the swelling was. I dont think its fluid cause it feels hard. my health visitor sais its just the shape of his skull. But shouldnt his head be round and could the ventouse have altered the shape of his skull. Any advice would be gratefull, maxine.

Just out of curiosity, what is ventouse? Vaccum suction? If so, it can take weeks, up to 3 to 4 months for the head to return to a "normal" round shape. Any type of assisted delivery can cause the head to be abnormally shaped, skull included (especially with the use of forceps, but vaccum suction has been known to do it as well)for awhile. If you are truly concerned, ask for a second opinion. If your baby is acting normal (normal for him), then there is probably nothing wrong. At the least, you could ask for an ultrasound and xray to ease your mind, or maybe even find out an answer.
