I just noticed today that my 13 months old baby has a hairy spot 1 inch by 1 1/2 inches long right under the diaper line on her right side, like right above her little butt. I am very worry since I had not noticed this until today. I thought at first that it was a bite from her sister that is 2 yrs old, but when I kept touching it softly, I relaized that the part was raised from the skin and also had longer hair than her normal surrounding areas. I am very worried that this could be something bad. Can someone please advise?

Thanks

This spot is probably a congenital hairy mole (mole that is present at birth or soon thereafter) and usually has bigger dimensions than the regular moles.
There can be a delay in pigmentation (getting darker than the surrounding area)of this spot (pigmentation may occur from age 1 month to 2 years).
Since the spot is 1 inch by 1 1/2 inches long, it belongs to a group of medium congenital moles (there can be large or giant ones with greater risk for malignancy).
Coarse surface hairs develop in more than 50% of congenital moles and may occur during the first 1-2 years of life.
Congenital moles have greater risk for malignancy transformation later in life than regular moles.

You should consult a dermatologist for true diagnosis!
