Using baby oil and other oil based lubricants can lead to yeast infections. Doctors recommend that women use water- based lubricants because these are more like your natural lubrication. They are discharged from the vagina and evaporate easily like natural lubrication but oil based lubricants remain in the vagina much longer and cause the vagina to have too much moisture for a long period of time. The vagina naturally has yeast but the body normally manages to keep the pH balance (and level of yeast) in check. When you use an oil- based lubricant, you make the moisture level go up for a very long time, giving your body time to over producer yeast/ have a yeast infection.
If you have never had a yeast infection, please do not assume that this is the case. Your discharge could indicate some other problem. If you do not want to go to the doctor, you can purchase a yeast infection detection kit at the drug store or pharmacy.
One other reason to avoid oil- based lubricants is because (if you use condoms) the oil can erode the latex and cause a hole or tear.
In the future, stick to a water- based lubricant like KY jelly.

No, using baby oil on other parts of the body will not cause a yeast infection.

likely within a week. Baby oil dries out the skin. a good lubricant to use is Albolene. IT will not dry out the skin nor cause yeast infection.
