SO my 8 month old decided he was going to walk today. Just got right up from a standing position and took some frankenstein steps before falling on his padded bottom. In my excitement I had not considered anything other than how cool it is he's now walking, then it hit me. He's WALKING he can fall..hard. But now they have these baby helmets and I think they may help, everyone else (including husband, babysitters etc) says this is unnecessary and the helmet is ugly.

TO use or not to use baby helmets...

might throw his balance off a little. i can understand you feeling nervous about it but i think the helmet might be a bit much. you just have to keep an eye on them and if they do happen to hit their head, know what to look for to make sure it isn't a serious injury. i think babies are sturdier than they look in some ways. my daughter has taken her fair share of tumbles but she has always been okay afterward. a month or so ago, we stayed in a hotel and she slept on the bed with me. in the middle of the night she fell off the bed and landed right on her head. i kept her up from 1:30am until 3:00am or so to make sure she was alright because they say not to let someone go straight to sleep after hitting their head. my husband thought i was a little nuts but, whatever. i just wanted to be sure.
