Did anyone have an Atrium brand polipropilyne mesh used and it failed? My husband nearly died because it took 8 weeks for his atrium patch to dissolve inside of his abdoman, he had another surgery and became septic from all of the crud from the patch thing that his doctor was unable to get out of his body. His doctor had to literally disect muscle and soft tissue in order to repair the damage done by the atrium patch. His life went from working, riding our Harleys everywhere, to no work, no sex, no lifting, we had to close our business , and now he is in constant pain, no sleep, nothing but rest after 6 months of suffering. He will never ever have anything close to the life he had before. Anyone have the same brand of hernia repair patch ??

Yes, I received the Atrium ProLite mesh implanted in December of 2004 for a sacral colpopexy repair (I am female). I have had intractable severe groin/pelvic pain ever since, nearly 8 years now, and this year increasing in area into the piriformis muscle which is pressing the sciatic nerve, causing pain from my left hip down into my leg; also have had bowel and bladder incontinence since this implantation in 2004. I also had two other meshes (also polypropylene) implanted in 2007 in separate surgeries (supposed to "cure" the pain caused by the first one; these only increased my pain); one of these was partially removed in 2009. I have not been able to find a surgeon willing to remove these remaining meshes yet, although I have an appointment with another one this coming week. I see that my other meshes are in product liability suits, and have been recalled, but have found nothing about the Atrium meshes. -Kate
