Hi, I'm new here I'm trying to find out answers for my mom.

She was told while pregnant with me that she had high blood pressure, this was 22 years ago, about 14 years ago the doctors put her on atenolol, she takes 100mg. About almost 2 years ago she woke up one morning to her left leg was numb feeling she couldnt walk and would stumble finally it subsided she didn't think anything of it, mind you she has no medical insurance, so doesn't see a doctor regularly. About 3 days ago, she woke up once again with the same symptoms, her feet and hands are cold as well, and she since the first time this happened complains her hands and feet are swollen and ache. I read up on about her medicine, atenolol, and many people complain about the same things she is and has complained about. I was wondering has anyone else on this mediciation had this happen to them and if so what did they do to better their situation, and if so possibly can she just wean off of the atenolol. Thanks.

Each medication affects a person different...I have been on Atenolol for 45 years...I now take 100 mg. daily...In addition I take Lisinopril...I, too, am blessed with high blood pressure...I have never had any of the above problems...I have no medical training, but to me it sounds like a circulation problem...She should see a doctor....Take care...
