hey,
my 1 year old daughter was rushed into hospital 2 weeks ago with breathing dificulties, she had an x-ray and they told me she had a pneumonia type infection on her right lung, she stayed in 1 night and was sent home with antibiotics, 2 nights ago she had similar symptoms and i took her to a different hospital, (the previous hospital didnt look very clean and the staff were terrible) they told me that the previous xray showed that she had pneumonia, they xrayed her again and said it had cleared up and then they went a bit quiet on me and didnt actually say what was wrong, she was in hospital for 2 nights, she was on oxygen for a while, also 2 kinds of asthma pumps and an oral steroid, i have been sent home with one course of the steroid and one of the pumps they have been giving her, the doctor said to keep her on it for 2 days every 4 hours then to just give it to her when i think she needs it. from the moment i took her into a & e they kept asking whether asthma ran in the family ( it does big time) and they also asked if she has excema (which she does) but they never actually told me it was asthma. my cousin has a child with severe asthma and she said that they will not diagnose asthma until the child is 3 or 4 years old.
i am very confused, if she has asthma, then she has it, why skirt around the fact.
has anyone else had a similar problem. and is this 3-4 year rule world wide or just in the uk?
thank you.
