I am extremely anxious about undergoing
this procedure. I am not afraid of the
preparation for or of the procedure
itself. I am concerned about two things
however. I have chronic asthma(35 years
now), and I have a heart
murmur(regurgitation). I have always had
antibiotics before any invasive
procedures, dental or otherwise. Now I am
told this is no longer necessary. It
greatly concerns me. I am also concerned
about the effects of the sedative, Versed,
I believe that is the common IV sedation
drug used? that will be administered to
me. I would prefer having the procedure
without any sedation at all. Must sedation
be used or am I being blown off by the
gastroenterologist who will perform the
procedure.
I do have anxiety disorder, but have it
under control (for the most part) unless
something such as this impending procedure
comes up. I use .25 mg of Klonopin when I
am anxious and this is not something I
must do on a normal daily basis.
I would be so grateful to hear from
others.
Thank you!!!!!!
