I am a 25 year old white woman who enjoys to drink fairly regularly. I have noticed for years that I sometimes experience symptoms of Asian Flush. It does not always happen, sometimes not for a long time, and I have noticed that it rarely happens if I drink a higher quality of alcohol. It has recently been brought to my attention that Asian Flush is a result of a deficiency of ALDH2, is genetic, and is strongly liked to esophageal cancer. How likely is it that I have this as opposed to an allergic reaction? If you are unable to answer my question, where is the best place for me to start looking into this, and do you know how I would go about getting tested for it? Thank you.
