Q: Arthrogram pain ?

I am having an arthrogram today, and was told that it can be painful. Can anybody tell me anything about this?

dont worry about it. they will give you pain meds and every thing to help with it. let us know how it goes

Thanks for your thoughts! The test lasted about an hour and a half. They stick a needle on each side of your jaw to inject dye, which was the worst part of the whole thing. I found out that generally there is a sac, or a disc which is supposed to cushion the joint. That sac or disc isn't there, so I have no clue what they can do about that. I see the Dr. again on Tuesday to go over the options since the splint hasn't worked.

they can do a couple of things, they can put in a face meniscus(disc) or they can do a muscle graft. that is take part of a leg muscle and place it in between your joint to work as a meniscus. yes needles are the toughest part of that--did they at least put a topical analgesic on it?
