Hi All
I am from South Africa and I have read a number of posts regarding gout which I have found extremely interesting. My husband and I are just about on our way to go and get some baking soda to see if it helps.

Just a few things though.

I have never had gout in one spot, like a toe or whatever, I have just been experiencing this terrible tenderness in my arms, legs, thighs, neck and back. My feet however, are so sore in the instep that when i get up in the mornings or
when i have been sitting a while it is sometimes excruciatingly painful and takes a while for me to become totally mobile. I have been taking pills that the doctor has prescribed etc, however, nothing has helped.

However, I know that i need to lose weight, and the doctor has put me onto a meat and vegetable diet - no carbos or starches at all - which I have been doing and have lost about 3 kgs in about the last two weeks. However, i am still in mega pain!
After reading items in this forum I find that meat is one of the main foods that tend to aggravate gout!!

My question is, is the baking soda going to relieve the entire body pain or is it just for use when you have gout in a specific area of the body?

My other question is, is it wise to drink meal replacement shakes for say two meals a day or should one get the gout under control before doing this?

The other thing is, what does one eat to get fast relief - just vegetables, or are there any other suggestions?

I am currently taking gout complex, multiforce alkaline powder, Schweden-bitter, Turbo Slim Drink, by Forte Pharma (this is supposed to detox, drain, purify and mineralise the body and assist in losing weight). All of these products are natural, herbal products. At this stage I am taking everything that i can lay my hands on that is maybe going to ease the pain in some way. Also all of these products have an alkanalising affect on the body, but the pain goes on!!

I have now stopped taking the pills that the doctor gave me, i.e Celebrex and Puricos.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
