It is rare for us to be getting an adaquet amount of calcium in our diets especially as we age, the calcium does not absorb aswell. When we are not getting enough calcium for our bodies it must take calcium from our bones to supply other bodily functions. So unfortunately a calcium supplement is commonly needed to help supply the body and help strengthen bones.

Best of health.

A calcium supplement is needed, but remember to take a 2:1 of cal & mag as well as added vitamin D. These are needed to absorb and bind the calcium to the bones.

Also low estrogen will decrease calcium absorption, so beware of osteo in menopausal years.

Agree, Vitamin D is one of the most important ingredients that one should take with Calcium -- helps with the absorption process.

Also, there is Vitamin K which plays a crucial role in the movement, integration and retention of Calcium.

The key is taking the right form of calcium -- I won't give advise, but do your research because the are several forms of calcium out there that will deliver no benefits.

Cheers
