My bf and I decided on three names we both like for a boy.

Aaron- my father figures name is Allan, I'm not big on Allan. I just took the A anitial. I'm hoping Allan could grow on me.
Seth- A name we both really love
Thomas-Bf's dad's name. He passed away a year ago.

Other names I like are Lucas, Matthew, Liam, Adam, and Joshua is slowly growing on me.

Joshua Aaron Thomas works really, really, really well as a name combo. Liam Allan Thomas works, too. It's all about syllable placement.

My sister named all three of her kids with three names. There is a Catholic tradition of naming your children a third name because of the sacrament of Confirmation during which an additional name is given. Although Confirmation is usually given when the child is older now, babies used to be Christened and Confirmed at the same time, so it isn't rare to have three.

I say go for it. Some other nationalities have way more than that Wink

Are 3 names okay?
Well my husband has 4 names including his last name. His brother does as well. My husband refuses to give any of our kids more than 3 names including the last name. He says it was hell trying to fill out forms that had one middle initial spot. He never knew what to put. His drivers license has his two middle names as one. So if his 2 middle names were Thomas and Robert it would look like Thomasrobert on I.D. cards. It might sound cool to have more than 3 names for the parent who can't decide, but knowing my husband and brother in law and what they feel about it. For the person having all those names it sucks. I just thought I'd throw that out there in your decision. In the end its your choice.

It was not really about sounding cool it was about not wanting to leave one parent out. We would probably just named him Thomas Allan. But if we did use three one would be left out od legal documents. I know three people with three names and they only use the first two the other one is just on the birth certificate. My friend is Georga Allen Reid and he just goes by George Allen. I dunno though we will see when ever the time comes again. I recently lost my pregnancy due to a blighted ovum at 8 weeks. Thanks for your input though we will definetly keep in mind for the future.

I think Thomas Allen Seth sounds better than Aaron... just my opinion.

Two middle names is perfectly fine... it's the parent's decision. You should be okay with using 10 middle names if you wanted.

Me too I loved Thomas Allan Seth but then I got the whole if your calling him Seth why not let seth be his first name. Next time the name could be something totally different. It seems weird to name a new kiddo the same thing as the one I lost. I dunno though I guess it will just depend on when the time gets here.

I like having two middle names I have two and only use one of them. My brother is the same. He only uses one of them (one that he likes the most, but we both have two.) Growing up we always used both now.. Just one.. Which may sound weird.. So if you named him thomas allan seth.. He may choose when people ask him his middle name to say seth or allan. Maybe both, but I think its a good idea. Mine is Stacy Lee barbara I chose to use Stacy Lee.. Dropped the barbara.. LOL My brothers baby has two middle names now too. He's adorable, Personally. I think its a great Idea

All of my siblings have two middle names, and they all get called by their full names, at least when in trouble! On all documents, their first middle name is the only one used, and none of them have any problem with their names ever.

The tradition in my family is to use two favorite names for the first name and first middle name, and to honor a family member for the second middle name. Or sometimes just honor a family member with both middle names. I am naming my daughter with both my mom's and my husband's mom's names as her middle names. Rosemary Josephine (my mother in law) Catharine (my mother's name).

me too!
I also have 2 middle names, as does my husband. We just recently put my maiden name in our middle names. So far it hasn't complicated life any more than usual with 2 middle names. Go for it!
