Q: Are these symptoms related to the Depo shot?

I started the depo shot approximately 9 months ago. My period was already really light and it stopped immediately after I began the shot regimen.
I've actually been pretty thrilled with the overall experience, no mood swings, my pre-existing depression hasn't become any less manageable, and no annoying physical issues like sweating way more than usual (I experienced this when taking several different BCPs.)

However, over the last 2 weeks I've begun distributing symptoms that I'm not sure whether to attribute to the shot or something else entirely.

SYMPTOMS:

-Fatigue (Constant)
-Weakness of the body, especially in the legs (I'll go to do something as simple as cleaning my kitchen and have to stop every ten minutes to sit down)
-Abdominal pain (Not severe, more of an ache Often fixated on the lower left side of my body)
-Nausea (Especially after eating. Usually wish I hadn't eaten in the first place..)
-Spotting after intercourse
-Painful intercourse (Not painful enough to stop, just very uncomfortable especially at certain angles)
-Loss of libido
-Loss of appetite
-Near fainting spells and cold sweats (Usually when doing something active and trying to ignore how weak I feel)
-Headaches. Constantly.
-Upper respiratory infection (This is probably just because it's "that time of year.." but I live in a house with 4 other college students who aren't sick even in the least.)

I realize that this could be ANYTHING, or a culmination of things, and the only way to know for sure is to go to a doctor. Unless my symptoms worsen, I'm waiting until November 12th to go to my clinic. (I already have an appointment scheduled that day to get another injection) I took pregnancy tests yesterday just to make sure (They're negative, of course) and plan to get tested for STDs although i've been in a monogamous relationship for over a year now.
I guess what I'm wondering is if anyone recognizes any or all of these symptoms in relation to an experience they've had while on the shot. If this is just a phase of my body adjusting to the shot (..Although I was symptom free for the first 2 rounds of the injection..), and it's something that's just going to gradually go away, I might consider staying on the shot since I can learn to deal with this mess (If it promises to go away) easier than I can learn to deal with some of the experiences I had while taking birth control pills.

The most common symptom of the depo shot and other injectable contraceptives are irregularity in vaginal bleeding. However, other possible side effects of Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) include:

* Irregular and/or prolonged bleeding
* Spotting
* Headache
* Nausea
* Breast tenderness
* Weight gain
* Mood change
* Acne
* Amenorrhea (lack of vaginal bleeding)

I'd suggest that you seek follow up counseling and treatment options from the gynecologist who helped with the depo shot. create a diary of your symptoms and track them with a calendar so that you can provide her/him with the most scientific and accurate information possible. It might be that this form of birth control is not for you.
