Q: appendix surgery

my son 16yrs.old had an appendectomy 4 weeks ago 1 week after surgery back in hospital after testing found he has a leak in small intestine where appendix was removed and has a leaking colon into abdominal cavity several meds. have been tried to fight infections including gentamicin and zosyn, but to no avail my son keeps getting worst scans, test after test nothing helping, boy is losing more weight and getting weaker. inflamation keeps going up and so does white blood count, what do you suggest? mom and i are very concerned, i went to school to learn how to fix machines hydraulics,pnumatics,electrical etc. and wish i had gone for medicine so i could fix my son, help us please

Leaking from the appendical anastomosis, site where the appendix was removed is complication that is most likely a result of surgical technique used during appendectomy.
This leak may lead to peritonitis (inflammation of peritoneum, a membrane that lines the abdominal cavity) that can be generalized or in form of abscess.
Drainage of the abscesses with antibiotic irrigation and systemic antibiotic therapy are usual treatment.
Surgery is considered option in certain cases.
