Q: appendectomy scar muscle adhesion

I had an appendectomy when I was 12. This was 12 years ago. Following the surgery, I had a drain and after it was taken out, the end of the scar was not stitched. As that area healed, it healed to the underlying muscle. It causes an indentation. It is something that really bothers me. I am wondering if this is common, what causes it, and if there is anything that can be done to correct it.

For scar indentations, the Nd:Yag laser seems to help by stimulating the formation of collagen beneath the skin, which can smooth out scar.
