Q: Aortic stenosis and high fever
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 23rd, 2009
My son is 2 yr.He has aortic stenosis. The day he turned 2 he had a fever of 103F for the next 2 days it went to 105F.He stopped drinking and eating. He has had no other symptoms.I went to the dr and they did x-ray.blood test, urine test, stool. All came back negative. He was admitted to hospital for dehydration. He was there for 5 days.He was given rocefin in the hospital as well.Once he was released from the hospital he continued to have fevers. They have tested him for coomes, protein, bone marrow reacting properly. All came back negative. His ESR and CRP levels were high in the hospital but have returned back to normal. He also had a nuclear bone scan done which they said was negative or too early to tell. They re tested is cbc and his hematocrit is 32.4 and hemoglobin is 11.1.He said they are a little low so he is putting him on a course of iron for 3 weeks and then will re-test.He said that if the levels don't come back to normal then he would send us to a hemotologist.Would like a 2nd opinion
