Q: Anxious in AM since thyroid problems

I have been suffering from severe anxiety the first thing every morning for the last few months. It was first triggered by my thyroid being off, but now my thyroid is back to normal levels again, yet I'm still anxious. My endocrinologist said I should be feeling better, but I'm not. She gave me Ambien to help me sleep & Xanax to calm down, but it feels like it's only masking a problem that's not going away. Help! I feel like I'm cracking up! Any insight would be a great help.

Be careful with Xanax, because it is addictive. You can try Buspar. It is safer to take for the long term, and works great for anxiety. You can try a relaxing tea for your anxiety also.

Thyroid & depression
IPlease see your doc about an anti-depressant THIS WEEK! I had mine removed on 6-25-09 & just last week realized that I needed some help. I was put on Paxil CR & after 5 days, I felt like I had "found myself." Good luck & God bless!
