hi i am a 25 year old male and i think i might have anxiety/panic attacks. it has been gradually getting worse over the course of 4 years. it first started with me always worrying about death and thinking that im gonna die soon. now i still have thoughts of death but my body freaks out at times usually when im in public areas or i feel like people are looking at me. i start to twitch mostly around my neck and head area my body will start to tingle in certain areas my heartbeat speeds up i start to sweat and just feel like i need to get out of there and hide under a shell. it has become so bad that i can barely go out and do daily tasks. ive quit my job because it had gotten so bad and have been afraid to go to the doctor but think i might have to soon if it doesnt go away. any guesses ? treatment ideas ? please help thank you.

Sure sounds like it to me. But, go get a professional's opinion so you can get treated properly. That is very important to keep you at a balance.

to me this definatley sounds like you r experiencing some form of anxiety or stress related illness maybe recently something has happened in yor life or sometimes something small can trigger these feelings but there is usually an underlying stress factor that causes it go to the doctors first then maybe you need to consider a pychologist or a cognitive behavior therapist. The main thing is alot of people in life experience some issues try to learn more about stress anxiety panic and fear and you wil relise and understand it better but go to the doctors firt it sounds lile panic attacks to me but hav a good think about what is really going on in yor life and u need to be honest maybe yor feeling fearful u wil improve but get help

Don't ignore simple treatments.....
Exercise aerobically for 30 minutes every morning.

Yes, it sounds simple and even ineffective - but it works! I know because it helps me.

You don't have to commit to a life-long exercise program to see if it works for you. Just commit to 21 days. Heck....even put up a calendar and count down your 21 days.

If you don't feel heaps better on day 22, go to the doctor and discuss your anxiety with him/her.

It's simple. It's effective. And, at the very least, it just may make you live longer.

Good luck!

I agree that proper diagnosis is a good first step. If it is anxiety or panic I would recommend joining a CBT group. I use the TEA form exercise I learned in CBT to keep on top of my anxieties and have been doing great. Hang in there and get checked out asap sunny

ways to treat anxiety
Hi, from what I have learnt, there are basicly three ways to treat anxiety: (1) traditional medications (2) behavorial therapy (3) althernative medications. Traditional medications are powerful, but are often accused of causing side effects. Depdent on the severity of your problem (which you might have to consult a medical professional), you may love to try the *natural* ways (ie, alternative medication).

I have not heard of those methods. I think itis important to try many different things as we are all different. I recommend the CBT and the book by Sam Obitz because that is what ended up working for me but not everyone is the same so I hope you share more about wthese things that worked for you sunny

Also, very light blue lighting is known to be very calming to the mind. I do yoga and candle theropy myself and every color has a meaning and a balance in ones life. Red will bring out anger etc... Also, lavender. Very good for calming. I also suffer from severe panic and anxiety disorder. I am on two medications for it. There are more stress relief out there, you just have to look for them.
