i don't know if anyone remembers me, but
i'm the paranoid hypochondriac who feared
getting pregnant after getting fingered.
facts:
1. it was in early january.
2. he said he came on his hip but i don't
know if any semen could've been wiped off
anywhere else and i could've sat on it or
something, and i'm also not sure if any
could've been on his finger at the time
but if there was it would've been a tiny
amount.
3. i've never had sex, i'm not on birth
control, and i'm 16.
4. i don't THINK i've had any pregnancy
symptoms. i feel a little queasy, and i've
been constipated along with perhaps a
teensy bit of breast growth..but otherwise
no morning sickness, fatigue, mood swings,
or anything else.
5. i can't tell if i have a belly or not;
i've looked all over the internet for
pictures and seen it varies but i can't
tell if on me it's just fat.
6. i have had my period in january, and i
was a few days later in february so it was
the very end of the month into the
beginning of this. it was normal heaviness
flow and whatnot, but i've read that some
people have periods when pregnant.
now again i am freaking out, probably for
no good reason, and i know i sound dumb
but i have anxiety disorders and i want
this to be one less thing i have to worry
about.
i also really have no way of getting a
test, i can't drive yet.

No, you aren't pregnant. Have you taken a
pregnancy test just to put your mind at
ease?
Periods aren't called periods when you are
pregnant. They are called spotting and
they aren't usually normal bleeding and
don't resemble periods at all. If you were
3 months pregnant, it would be very
obvious in a lot of ways.
Please take an HPT to put your own mind at
ease. Believe what it says.

Well actually there has been women who had
"period like" bleeding for the first
couple months during their pregnancy. I
don't remember the condition but it
happens. BUT, as you described it, you're
probably not pregnant. HPT though!!

Yes you deffinetly "wildwoodflower" all
the woman in my family except me for some
reason have had all their periods while
being pregnant up to 8 or 9 months of
pregnancy.....it doesn't have to be just
spotting.But seriously you should somehow
take a test just to put your own mind at
rest...but honey you are panicking too
much its highly unlikely that you could
pregnant in the way you have
described....not completly impossible but
you would know by now if you
were.....trust me after 3children i
deffinetly know when ever i am without
taking a test by 3 months...but you should
take one to make sure.jade.

take a test, you may have gotten a late
period in febuary because you were
worrying still about being pregnant, but a
period means that any thing that could
have been inside you has been wiped away
when your period comes.
stress can cause late periods and play
with your body as well.
take a pregnancy test to see if you are
though, but i dont think your pregnant. i
think its most likely stress playing games
with you.

Before you jump down her throat, NO you
cannot have a period while pregnant. You
may have breakthrough bleeding, but it is
in NO WAY a period. A period only occurs
in women who aren't pregnant because you
release the very nutrients a baby feeds on
during pregnancy. If the women in your
family actually had their periods, they
would all miscarry or give still-births as
the baby wouldn't be nourished.

through with 4 pregnancys and 3 children
and miscarrying twins...im sorry but u are
completly wrong....you CAN have periods
and as
all the woman in my family would tell you
and be able to show you they all have
healthy living children...and yes they did
have periods lasting up to about their 6
to 7 month and their periods lasted for
the same amount of days...this is my two
sisters, my mum,my nan and my 2
aunties.I'm the only woman in my close
family to not have periods while being
pregnant...a couple of you think you no it
all about the facts of pregnancy but
seriously i wouldnt come on here blurting
rubbish.Im not saying they are releasing
eggs in these bleeds but like being on the
pill when you dont release eggs they are
still classed as periods.

When you are pregnant they aren't called
periods, they are called break thru
bleeding. Women can bleed during pregnancy
but they can not have periods. Periods are
for cleansing out the uterus when there is
no pregnancy and readying it for the next
cycle. This doesn't happen when pregnant.
If you are experiencing bleeding during
your pregnancy, please see a doctor. It
needs to be checked out.

Thanks for the replies, guys, and sorry
for sparking some arguments here.
But yeah I know it's not really your
menstrual period when you're pregnant, but
with "break-through" bleeding is it as
constant as a period? I know you're all
thinking "damn another dumb kid" and I was
probably overreacting.
I really don't think I am pregnant, I mean
I would FEEL it or something right? It
would definitely hurt more than it does
when I press against my stomach..right?
I will definitely find a way to access an
HPT if I can't seem to get over it even if
I get my period again. It's normal flow
though, I must be overreacting.

so no i am not bleeding.But even though i
no an egg is not released in these bleeds
you CAN have all the way through a
pregnancy health
proffesionals....ie....midwifes,registras,
consultants still refer to them as
PERIODS.....in England anyway and in both
hospitals i have laboured in already
anyhow.

the beeding may mean a miscarriage, i dont
think it would be as constant as a period.
What your describing sounds like a period
not break through bleeding.
Why dont you go to a planned parenthood
clinic the tests are free, you dont have
any other way to get a HPT??

Well then they're WRONG. They're not
physically periods, just as implantation
bleeding is not a period, and like other
breakthrough bleeding is not considered a
period. The only medical definition of a
period is as Ingi said, is to cleanse the
uterus when an egg fails to become
fertilized and thus you're NOT pregnant. I
don't care if they call it a yeast
infection or the apolcolypse, it's neither
just like it's not a period. And just
because all the women in your family have
BREAKTHROUGH bleeding, does not mean it's
normal, it should be checked out, and it's
still not a period.

I am not disregarding the fact that some
women do indeed bleed in pregnancy. They
do not, however, have a period. It isn't
called a period because it does not signal
the begining of a cycle.

Causes of bleeding in early pregnancy
include impending miscarriage, and ectopic
pregnancy, but also less significant
things like a raw cervix and placental
aggressiveness (a term I coined for the
fact that sometimes the placenta grows too
close to a uterine blood vessel that
starts to bleed). Later in pregnancy,
placenta previa or cervix ripening can
cause bleeding to occur. Usually the
response to reports of bleeding during
pregnancy is to perform an ultrasound, to

fetal heartbeat (early on), or to locate
the placenta (late pregnancy). Rarely is
the blood itself observed on the
ultrasound; reports of "subchorionic
bleeding or hemorrhage" are rarely useful.
So, I always reply that, "You can't
have a period when you're pregnant.
Bleeding is never good or normal in
pregnancy, but it's not always really bad
news. If it's not heavy, and you're not in
pain, let your doctor's office know about
it when they're next open."

I NEVER SAID IT DID.....thats just what
they say when they are talking about
it....all my family say periods because
its easyer than saying "break through
bleeding" the staff at my hospital just
REFER to them as periods......you are
being very PADANTIC ingi....for goodness
sake.and i'm 9 months pregnant so dont
need to take a test.lol.the bump and
terrible problems i am having are proof
enough.all im saying is after 3 children
and miscarriages my consultant refers to
them as periods while pregnant,no egg but
bleeding every month as if like normal.but
still having healthy living babies.....all
the woman in my close family have had this
so unless you are saying i'm seeing my
family with healthy alive babies but in
reality they all miscarried then please
come out and say i'm lieing.....you dont
know me or my family but hey if you are
ignorant then go ahead.

I wasn't the person who said any of that,
actually. I am giving factual information
because thousands of young girls read
these replies all the time. I want them to
know that, yes, you can have bleeding in
pregnancy - but it isn't called a period.
I'm not sure why you are so angry. Show me
