I am having a fusion on my back soon. They are going through the stomach to take the disc out. I know its easier to get to the disc this way but was wondering if there were other reasons why they would take it out through the stomach..I should have asked this question at my last appointment but didnt think to ask. Anyone know? He is a great surgeon so I do trust his reasoning.

hi
anterior posterior fusion provides the most stability for a spine that for whatever reason has become unstable. fusion usually is accomplished more quickly and there is a very high percentage of fusion success. i assume stability is a major concern in your case....anyway we all wish you a successful fusion surgery....pete
