Hi all,

First thanks for everyone's posts here. They have been helpful since I was just diagnosed with this as well. I've always had allergies. Started allergy immunization back in April of 2008 through Aug 2008. Then....labor day. It stared with swollen and painful (very painful) feet and hands. Then eye, then the hives joined in the fun. It's been 5 weeks now, and I've been to 4 different doctors. Finally back with an allergist.

My feet swell so bad at times that I honestly can't walk. Really difficult to cut a vacation to Disney a day short with your son because you can't get out of bed without falling down. I've had hives and the swelling in random places from head to toe. Really sucks.

I am under a lot of stress at work, and deep down, think this must be the real cause. Dr just put me on more steriods, singular, claritin, Alegra 180, and zantac. I justg started this plethora of drugs today...so if anyone is out there, wish me luck.

If anyone has any other helpful homeopathic remedies, please let me know. This is truly debilitating, and being in my 30's that really scares me...

It's true that emotional stress can trigger body reaction that results in angioedema, and you are at greater risk for angioedema if you had allergies before.
Taking cool showers, applying cool compresses, avoiding vigorous activity (same as emotions can trigger angioedema), can be helpful.

Are you experiencing this for the first time?
Do you have family history of angioedema?

Thanks for the reply.

I have never experienced angiodema until September 1st 2008. I am athletic, in good cardio condition, and do try to excersice regulary. For the last week, I have not worked out at all, and plan to take another week off while on all the meds to see if that improves things. The steriods and combination of antihistimes seems to be helping control the outbreaks, but I don't want to do anything to set off more swelling. It's the worst part of it.

I was thinking of doing more yoga to try and ease stress, but keep up some form of excercise. Thoughts?

When angioedema appears later in life (not in childhood), and is accompanied with hives, is known as idiopathic angioedema, in which case, thyroid dysfunction should be considered.

Do the swelling and hives persist beyond 6 weeks?
Have you been tested for C1 inhibitor levels?
