Q: Anal discharge

Should I see a doctor? Currently I eat fairly health and have an active lifestyle. No junkfood and rarely ever drink sodas. Is this something serious?

Brown-yellowish mucus coming out from the anus could indicate inflammation of the rectum (proctitis). Diverticulitis is another possible option. The blood coming from the rectum could be due to the same conditions but also from the fissure or maybe hemorrhoids.

The precise diagnosis, in your case, can be revealed after performing a rectoscopy or colonoscopy. Before a colonoscopy is done, you could request a digital rectal examination, microbiological stool examination (coproculture), and several standard blood analyses.

You may want to consult an enterologist about your problem.
