My BP was 153/80. I was put on Ramipril. Last Dr appt BP was 160/90. Dr put me on Anacand. It's only been 3 days but my headaches in the morning are severe. They do subside after tylenol. Will this go away? Dr has not called me back yet. It is hard to stay calm when BP is so high. I am healthy, 54, happy, positive thinker, exercise, watch what I eat, do not smoke or drink. Dad died at 66 from heart attack, Mom at 66 with stroke. Any suggestions to lower my BP would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much and bless you all.

The headache can be due to not well controlled blood pressure, or a side effect of Atacand.
The most common reasons for discontinuation of therapy with Atacand is headache.
Most of the antihypertensive effect is present within 2 weeks, and maximal blood pressure reduction is generally obtained within 4 to 6 weeks of treatment with Atacand.
If blood pressure is not controlled by Atacand alone, a diuretic (another group of antihypertensive drug) may be added.
