Hi, I have two boys one is 8 the other is almost 3, and I had two abortions within the passed 3yrs, please dont judge me. I promise myself I wont do it again. But now I think I am pregnant again with symptoms. We had used the withdrawal method and he believed it work and I guess I did too. We had unprotected sex on the day of ovulation starts for me with I wasnt aware of. My period supposed to start this weekend but it didn't. I've been taking pregnancy text left to right for about a week and a half and the day I thought my period was suppose to start I went to the dr for a pt but it was negative. Now some say the the pt from the dollar stores maybe bogus but they actually do work from previous uses from me and others and I took one on Thurs that was from the dollar store and it was a dipstick with a faint line but after that like the dr office it was negative. I havent taken the blood test yet. But I'm wondering if the abortion I had can affect the results. Its been a year since I've made that horrible decision. I guess I am looking for any suggestions. Oh and FYI I dont recall these problems before and I believe this is the first time I tested early as well.

First of all, don't worry about being judged for abortions. Everyone has their own personal reason for abortions, and it is always the mothers choice. If it was what was best for you and the baby, then you made the right decision and there is nothing wrong with that. Smile

With that aside, the withdrawal method is not a method. About 20% of the people who use the withdrawal "method" become pregnant within one year. If you are worried about becoming pregnant, you should look into a more reliable method of birth control. The pill is great, or if you are forgetful/don't want to take a pill every day, maybe you should try an IUD.

Pregnancy tests are accurate 14 days after you had unprotected sex, but can often take longer to be accurate. Are you using your first morning urine? Wait a few days and test again.

If there is a faint line, it is still a line, and chances are that you are pregnant. The doctors test may not have shown up because you were not using your first morning urine which is most concentrated with the hormone that detects pregnancy. Since it's been a full year since your abortion, it would not effect your pregnancy test results.

You are right. Stress can delay your period. However, if you find out you are not pregnant I would definitely recommend looking into other methods of birth control for a piece of mind and for better protection. Good luck!
