Q: Am I protected?

I am on the pill and got my period on Monday. Once I get my period I stop taking the placebo pills (this cycle I took two, and then my period came). My period ended today and I am planning on having sex tomorrow. However, I'm not supposed to start my new pack until Sunday. This means technically I won't be taking anything for 2 days. Am I still protected because the pills from the pack I just took are still in my system? Can I start my new pack tomorrow instead of Sunday just to play it safe? Or will I totally be fine if I start my new pack on Sunday?

As long as you've been taking your pills correctly this past month then you are still protected during your placebo pills.

Just make sure you start your new pack on time.

I usually take all my pills correctly. However, this cycle, one of my pills fell down the drain. It was probably at the end of the 2nd week of my pack. I went ahead and took the next day's pill, and ended up getting my period a day earlier. I didn't have spotting or anything like that. Does this change your answer?

No, there was at least a week of taking your pills correctly between when you missed a pill.

Start your next pack a day earlier.
