For about two weeks now i have gotten a lot of pregnancy symptoms such as, stomach pain.. it feels like a pulling sensation, lower back pain, especially in the morning and at night, frequent urination, sore boobs, headaches, emotional, nausea, constipation, sensitivity to smells. im used to smoking atleast a pack a day and the smell of cigarettes now makes me gag. i had unprotected sex from oct 6-18 and used protection after that. i would be ovulating around the 20-25. i took two hpt before my missed period and a blood test, both came back neg and today i took a hpt and its a neg. I would be about 3 or 4 days late for my period now and am really confuised, could i still be pregnant? What else could mimic these symptoms? any advice would be very much appreciated!

Fear and anxiety over being pregnant can cause you to feel pregnant. What kind of doctor gives serum pregnancy tests when you aren't even late for your period?

Are you aware that there is a 5 day window of opportunity to get pregnant every month? You hit that window by having unprotected sex on the 18th. If you ovulated on the 20th. However, unless you are actively using testing to predict when you ovulate, you don't truly know when you ovulated. This month you may have ovulated late, which could cause this late period.

Pregnancy symptoms are caused by pregnancy hormones. Pregnancy hormones are picked up in pregnancy tests. Ergo, if you are having symptoms as strong as nausea, constipation (this is a later pregnancy issue in most cases), sore boobs, sensitive to smells, etc - a pregnancy test should be smoking red hot.

Go back to your doctor and get another blood test now that you are truly late for your period. If it is negative, you are not pregnant.
