Q: Am I Pregnant ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on October 31st, 2009
I had unprotected sex on September 23rd, three days after my period ended. We used the withdraw method. I was still nervous, so three days later i took plan B. My next period started on time, October 14th. However, it was a lot shorter, thick brown, with red and pink mixed in on a day or 2. It lasted around 3 or 4 days, then slowly stopped with spotting for a couple days. I took a couple tests, they were negative. I also got a blood test, it was negative. A couple weeks after my period I had really bad cramping. I had what i think was :egg white cervical mucus", but i am not 100% sure. I took 3 ovulation tests over 3 days. 1st day, negative, 2nd a light pink line, third another pink line but not as dark as the control line. Also I have been really constipated and fatigued. Should I be worried? Is there a possibility i am pregnant, given all this information?

Am I Pregnant Answer A7743
Hello and welcome to eHealth Forum!

No there is no chance that you are pregnant. The third day after your periods is usually absolutely safe time unless you have a very short cycle of 21 days (yours is 28 days so ovulation occurs on around 14th day) or you have a long period of 7-8 days. One cannot conceive by having unprotected sex during this time. So if you had a long period of 7 days and had sex on the third day ie 10th day of cycle, then also the chances of conception are less as if the ovulation occurred on 14th day, the ovum cannot live beyond 3 days usually.

If you took plan B within 72 hours, it will act. Also this can cause a delay in period due to hormonal changes. But you had periods on time. Even if you had a faint line for ovulation, you have ovulated.

You do not appear to be pregnant as you had periods, positive ovulation line and negative urine and blood pregnancy test. Hope this helps. Take care!
