i have started drinking since i was 14 but i'm starting to think that i have now been drinking to escape from my problems. recently i drank until i passed out, was having a rough day. this seems to be a recurring process since i'm drinking at this moment. so i'm wondering if i should get help, or something of the sort...

hello like you im a new user but have been where you are now.
yes you need to seek help with your alcohol problem but with support and if possible medically supervised. you don,t mention your age now? or exactly how much you a drinking per day now?
however drinking to passing out stage is a dangerous place to be especially if living on your own?
your drinking to mask out your your problems and i need to tell you this is what you will have to overcome first. once you have spoken to someone about your problem thats causing you to drink then can you deal with the alcohol issue.
you have taken the first huge step and thats asking for help but you must seek medical help to overcome withdrawal from any alcohol problem.
this is a good site and we all help each other and plenty of people will listen to your problems and give you good advise.
it was not easy for me either at the beginning but 6 yrs now down the line and ive never looked back. i was prescribed medication which helped me a great deal named chloridiazepoxide which helped but also recieved councelling for 8 months arranged through my doctor to talk about my underlying issues.
good luck my thoughts are with you.

Drinking to feel numb or better about problems is a common sign that you are a problem drinker. Even if you're not an alcoholic, I suggest that you see a mental health counselor and start to talk with her/him to explore why you are drinking. Then, the person can direct you to AA or other resources as it applies to your life.

you may not be an alcoholic but you may be a binge drinker. definately go and talk to someone about your concerns. whatever is troubleling you is what you need to get out there and resolve in order to get past the binge drinking. I started as young as you did but I have gotten trhough it and so can you. Smile take action hun! take care.

I'm ok but i know im a problem drinker
I am not an alcoholic but i know i so easilly could be.I recently had 2 misscariages never touched a drop whilst pregnant! but when i lost each one i immediatley took comfort in the alcohol it makes you feel numb (nothing matters) each time i have a problem i want to drink but i have always said no i wont until i lost my last 2 babys.(although i did only drink on the first night its knowing that i reached for a drink that i know i could fall into it so easilly)But in my case my father was alcoholic and nearly died i watched him waste away and claw his way back from the brink of death so this is a big detterant for me i know the signs. So now i dont drink in the house only socially which isnt often as im a mum so its about twice a year. You have a problem when there is alcohol available to you and you cannot say no to it.If this is you then seek help please please do the earlier the better
