I have been suffering from panic attacks for the past 15 years. I turned to alcohol for comfort and that just made things worse. I have not been drinking for 2 years now and the panic attacks still haven't stopped. I take xanex 3 times a day to help. My doctor wants to put me back on anti-depressants but I don't feel depressed. Anyone gotten over their attacks without using medication on a daily basis? I really don't want to take these pills anymore and I want to be able to do things without worrying that I am going to have an attack.

You may want to try cbt which will teach you how to manage your stress and anxiety which should help you eliminate your panic attacks. It takes some work but I think you will really be pleased with the results. Try and join a group or read the book by sam obitz (which teaches you the right and wrong way to use a tea form). I learned the tea form exercise in my group and it has become a staple in my life. Just a slight change in how you process things in your head can lead to large changes in the amount of anxiety and panic you experience. I am med free and feeling better than since I was a child and no longer am having panic attacks. I hope this is helpful to you.
