Q: Alternatives for pulling wisdom teeth

Please, I need to know something very important about wisdom teeth. I need to know alternatives, another way to fill a cavity in a tooth that is pushed against it without extracting them. Please, this is extremely important, if you have the training to know, please tell me. I have two impacted wisdom teeth on the bottom of my mouth, and cavities in the teeth that they are crushing up against.

I am not going to get my teeth taken out, that is a decision I have made. I can't. I'm not going to lose part of my body, even if it means the cavities are going to turn into infections that go into my bloodstream and kill me. Yes I'm scared, I'm terrified, but I just can't lose part of my body, even if it kills all of me.

I need to know, please, is there ANY way they can get in to fill the cavities without pulling my teeth out? Could they just grind a little bit off the backs of them so they could get in there to be able to fill them. Or what about laser dentistry, which I've read about, could that work? I'm not getting my teeth ripped out of my skull. Is there any other way they can get into that space to fill those cavities? Please, I am scared and I would really like to know, if anyone knows.

I know that a lot of other people here are getting their wisdom teeth taken out and to many people it is no big deal, but to me it is and I just can't/won't do it. I need to know what hope I have for an alternative option, please. Sad Please help me someone. I'm scared.

hmm...you probably need them out. if you refuse and you need them out, they can cause MAJOR dental problems for you in the future.

well, are you talking about a cavity in the wisdom tooth or inbetween a wisdom tooth and another?
If that is the case, I've had a cavity filled between a tooth before, I believe they just drill into a different spot to get to the cavity.

It's in the tooth NEXT to the wisdom tooth. So they CAN do it? Oh, that makes me so happy if that's what your saying. Smile

i'm sure that you can, but most dentist would probably want to have your wisdom teeth out now to avoid complications in the future, it may take going to a couple of dentists before you find one who won't really bug you about it. Good luck!

I will. I'm sorry but I can't help but find your situation funny, although I know to you it's not.
I had my wisdom teeth out about 8 months ago and to be honest, I found the experience quite fun. I got a day off work, was extremely nervous, my mother drove me to the dentist. They brought me back and gave me a LARGE continuous dose of nitrous oxide for about 15 minutes. In case you've never had that before, someone could be holding a gun to your face ready to shoot and you wouldn't care...lol. I chose to be asleep while they did it so they stuck an IV in my arm, then, before I know it, I'm out, a complete void, asleep. Then, what seems like seconds later, I am being woken up by a nurse, and literally walked out the door to a waiting car. I felt like I was high on everything, and completely not in pain whatsoever. My mother said I was really riled on the way home, she said it seemed as if I was drunk. I had no complications at all, and within a week I was back to normal. No big deal at all. I hear that some people suffer from extreme swelling for about a week afterwards, but I had none.
Also, My mouth is much more comfortable with 4 less teeth, they were pushing up against my other teeth and pushing them forward.
My dentist told me that if I would have waited until my 30's to have them out I may need braces, because in my case they would have pushed my teeth out of alignment.
Just sharing a wisdom tooth story with you, to ease your thoughts if you do get them out.
Honest to God, if I could do it all over again, I would. It was a rather fun experience.
