I would recommend people start looking at natural peptide therapies. Two common ones that are rapidly gaining acceptance are thymosin and melittin. Thymosin appears to be very successful against viral infections like hepatitis and helps to boost immunity to fight disease. Melittin is being used to treat RA, MS, Lyme and other autoimmune diseases. I have tried both and they are effective. Unlike vitamins and supplements you actually feel these working. There is not much info about these on the net except at pubmed. Plenty of research from China and Korea on these two.

For me, the cure all for mood swings/mood disorders as well as optimizing brain power is hypnosis and the brainwave entrainment technique. I'm a mother of three who juggle work, motherhood and wifehood plus all the other activities I have in between. These two techniques helped me become a better parent, wife and student. I've just retaken my GMAT and aced it. I found the techniques very liberating and helpful.

There are two online resources that I have found very helpful:
1. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (http://nccam.nih.gov/) has a wide range of information resources from basic definitions, ongoing research, and training

2. NDSelect (www.ndselect.com) - an online directory of naturopathic physicians in the US and Canada. This site also has some good basic information about the profession. I recommend looking at the FAQ section.

Hope this helps,
John S

Hi, long time reader first time typer here. I really enjoy the posts on this page, but no one has mentioned any doctors that have helped them. I suffered for 4 years with chronic fatigue syndrome and all the conventional doctors wanted to do was to put me on anti depressants. So I tried Zoloft for a while, but it made me feel like a different person. I had mood swings and had trouble staying awake during the day! A friend from IUPUI told me about a doctor named Dr. Guyer that treated people like me and much more I came to find out. So I schedule an appointment with him last summer and was amazed at how open minded and kind he was to me. My appointment lasted almost an hour. Dr. Guyer is one of the most brilliant man I have ever met. He ran some labs on me and prescribed natural armour thyroid and low-level testosterone with some adrenal bovine extract he ordered. Within a week I not only felt better but I sleep better, worked better, and was able to stay awake fully cognitive during the day! This man is a miracle worker. If you have had similiar problems please check him out. I think he has a new website, but his practice is in Indianapolis, IN. Definitely worth the money and your time, dont settle for mediocrity. Tell him I refered you.
