Q: Allergic reations to self tanners
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 20th, 2009
I still have the bumps now and would like to know if it's definitely the tanner I am allergic too. And if I were to buy a new tanner would i get the same reaction?

Current medical status: The other day I just bought a new self tanner: Fake n Bake Self Tanner and applied it with gloves which I usually do not do. A couple of hours later my skin broke out in these little red raised bumps that are semi itchy only on my face, neck and chest. I've used self tanners before and had never experienced this problem.
Current medical treatment: I have taken Benadryl but it did not help mch.

There is only one way to find out if you are allergic to tanner or not and that is to try again. If the same reaction occurs it is very likely that you are allergic to the tanner. You could apply a new tanner on a smaller surface and wait for several hours.
