Okay so recently my boyfriend and I have started having sex again after 6 months of no sex. The last time we had sex was about 2 days ago and I have this itching on my vaginal opening. Now neither of us have an STD, we have both been tested. And I thought maybe it could be irritation, but it hasn't gone away. We use Lifestyles with spermicidal lube. The itching isn't there all day, only once in a while. I've also realized that I have a bit of discharge. I'm not sure if this happens when we use other types of condoms because we usually stick with the spermicidal lube ones since I'm a bit of a paranoid freak. But according to my boyfriend, I never complain when we use other condoms without the spermicidal lube. So could I be allergic to the latex or the lube?

Especially eHealthy
Bumblebee, It sounds like it can be a yeast infection as well??

Spermicide is terrible. The main ingredient (nonoxynol-9) is the same as used in domestic cleaners. My advice will be to use hormonal birth control together with condoms to give you the assurance. You can also get a pack of emergency pills (Plan B or others) and just make sure one of you look at the condom after he pulls out to make sure it stayed intact. If something went wrong, use Plan B immediately.

There are two types of condoms, latex and polyurethane. The latex is normally the culprit so try the others. Let him put a drop or two lube inside the condom. That way it will feel better for both as the lube will help to conduct heat and make him more sensitive.

Best of luck!

Thank you, I was thinking of it being a yeast infection also. Just got pretty scared because somebody on another website mentioned something about HPV. But it does seem like it could possibly be a yeast infection.
