All it takes is one simple swallow of liquid..(tea, water, etc.).. for my airways to lock up. Seems to be triggered by an inverted swallow..?? When it occurs, I can't inhale air. In fact, I CANNOT BREATHE through my mouth or nose, at all! I quickly isolate myself from other people, so scared someone would think I was choking and they'd hit me on the back. TRUTH IS my airways are completely locked/collapsed because of that one gulp of water and I have to work it out myself - one tiny whiff of air at a time until my airways unlock. (I sound like I'm having an Asthma Attack when it occurs.) Last time, it happened in a restaurant and I raced to the bathroom and bolted the door. I held on to the sink and slowly, I got my breathing back. (I remember looking in the wall mirror and seeing my face turning blue. I was watching myself die.) I am a very healthy woman otherwise, but, I'm terrorized to drink, even a sip of water. I use a straw, most times. Strange thing is, when I'm in full respiratory failure, I'm able to EXHALE the air, still in my lungs, but, I cannot INHALE new air. I've suffered with this affliction for too long!! I've been to my doctor and he said.."Sorry! No remedy. Can't help you. Good luck!" ...Everyday I face DYING with just one gulp of water. Can anyone give me some advice?
