Q: aftereffects of quitting

I used the patch to quit smoking - this time...As I have told others, you have to want to not smoke more than you want to smoke. That is very true for me. I'm the divorced mom of 2 young kids. I don't want to give them a bad example, I don't want to die young, and it's harder to meet people to date when you smell bad!

So I've quit, and it's been 9 weeks, but since I've been off the patch (about 5 days now) I've been a royally BAD mom. I snap at the kids, I start crying at the drop of a hat. I'm distracted at work. I'm eating way too much and I've gained 5 pounds (at least!).

Does anyone have any recommendations? I am not going to start smoking again, but I can't stand the way I feel right now.

Try and exercise to relieve the stress. btw i would have thought you should have been on the patches for a little longer. i too quit smoking through hypnosis, and i am using nicorette for the withdrawel. My program goes for 12 weeks and then after that i am supposed to cut down to 2 pieces of chewy a day.
