I'm a 44 yr old female w/ chronic pancreatitis ( had it for 14 years). I quit drinking 4 years ago, and my Dr. performed a whipple procedure. Recovery time was really long, and that was 2 years ago. I lost 30lbs in a month due to the terrible naseau and have been unable to gain it back. For the past 2 yrs, when i eat things with a tomato base(pizza, pasta) and I have a BM the next day, globs of oil come out..What is this? and should I be concerned?

I'm thinking the result you see has more to do with the fat content of the meal than the tomato. If you are seeing oil droplets, then, it is malabsorption of the fat. Are you taking your pancreas enzymes with meals? Some meals may contain more fat than you can metabolize even with the enzymes. That is when you see the droplets of oil and/or the fluffy/bulky bm's (steatorrhea) that show the body is not breaking down fat.
