I am 21 yrs. old and I had tinea in my crotch almost two years back. I used to self medicate using steroid based ointments. They used to allay the pain very soon. So whenever the infection recurred, i used the Miconazole nitrate cream with steroids in it. since, the recurrence rate was high, I saw a dermatologist who put me on oral doses of fluconazole and suggested local application of Miconazole nitrate gel. After this treatment, the infection never recurred. It's been a year now, free from fungus. But I am worried about the skin on the inner aspect of my thigh. It has thinned down which seems to be due to the ointments i used. And it never improved even after the cessation of those ointments. Are there any methods to ameliorate this?
