Hello~ My question is regarding my friend. Her 5 year date is coming up for the removal of her IUD. She has 2 young kids and her husband lost his job this year. Her date for removal is supposed to be July 17, 2009! That is only a few weeks away! She has no health insurance and is worried about getting the IUD out and replaced! What should she do? We live in Florida. Please help me help her she is really nervous and so am I! She is upset and scared.

There is a type of Medicaid called the Family Planning Waiver. (I know it is offered in North Carolina, so i would assume that it is available throughout the United States.) It is available to low income women and pays for one yearly pap semar/ gynecological exam as well as birth control for a year. It is available through the Department of Social Services. She should go there and apply for this benefit.
