Advice for my TMD

I have always been able to over extend my jaw, pop it in and out of place, and it would click...but back in October my right side locked up then it finally worked itself out a week later, but my left side locked up and has stayed locked since October...It just progressively gets worse and I am able to open a smaller amount it seems like every week...I finally went to my dentist he said I did have TMD and a very severe case of it I was then only able to open my mouth 15mm now it is getting worse and extremely painful...I can't even chew toast or macaroni it brings tears to my eyes to attempt to eat anything no matter how soft it is...I dread yawning it is awful...it even hurts when I am not talking or moving it in any way...My neck hurts my ears hurt and my head hurts...I have never been a clencher and I do not grind my teeth...I'm only 21 so my dentist has no idea why i have it this bad...he referred me to my local periodontist but they do not take any form of insurance and it is extremely expensive...my dentist recommended having the surgery especially since my wisdom teeth are almost in but the specialist wants me to go through therapy even though I haven't been to see him yet...but the ultimate problem is that if he doesn't fix it before my wisdom teeth come in I will have to have the surgery anyways to get them out....so overwhelmed and in so much pain any advice?

sorry for not having helpful advice, but i am having the same problem. i am seeking help before it gets this serious as it has only been one day of not being open to open my mouth wide enough to even eat a banana. I am hoping you might have some new information considering it has been about a month since you posted this. Please reply if you have any advice on how to open my jaw.
