Q: Advanced atherosclerosis
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 30th, 2008
what is the treatment for his condition. He is going to college and has no family around and does not think anyone can help him. I am sure that there must be medication that can help. He did have test done at the hopsital to find the extra stem, but they could not find it. So he really thinks there is no help. Is this somethng that can be helped with medication. He has had 2 seiaures this month so far and I am getting worried that he is damaging his body more. Also, he drinks nothing but apple juice. Could massive amounts of apple juice have any effects on him?

Heart Disease and Heart Attack Answer A5030

Current medical status: My question is about my daughters boyfriend. At 17 he had a heart attack. He was told he had an extra heart stem(?) and now is having seizures

According to the information you provided, the boy might be experiencing advanced atherosclerosis due to a lipid metabolic disease. Laboratory tests should be done to determine triglycerides and cholesterol blood levels. If increased, medications from the statin pharmacological group might be prescribed.

Most doctors and researchers agree that apple juice can not interfere with the atherosclerotic process.
