my daughter has been recently diagnosed with this disease...dis-ease...she is taking medically prescribed medication adderal this drug seems to wear off after about eight hours. Does this mean she must be upped??? concerned caretaker

i think you can get 12 hour prescriptions. thats what i have for my add. and i also have 4 hour ones for those nights i have to stay up doing homework or study. but they do wear off. thats why you take one everyday. and it kind of sucks because i naturally eat alot. but when i take those i dont eat. but at night when it wears off i eat alot haha

Sometimes they can up the dosage but that depends on how high your heart rate is on the medication. if they put more in your system than your body can handle it can be really tough on your heart. generally add/adhd meds last 2-8 hours. i think there are also other things you can take for it though. ask your daughter's meds doctor?
