I am 42 years old. After suffering with extremely and heavy periods for a year, I underwent an endometrial ablation, at which time I also had a chocolate cyst removed from my left ovary. After the surgery, I was told that they was significant endometriosis. One month following surgery I started having my period every other week, although it was not painful. I went for a follow up visit, was told everything looked fine, and to give it time. Two months later, I start to experience some time of bleeding everyday, with cramping twice a month around the time of what I suspect was my period. I phoned my doctor and an ultrasound was done. I was told that everything looked good and the uterine lining was thin. I was prescribed a progestin tablet to see if that would help things. I am a month and a half into taking the birth control, I bleed heavier every day, I have significant pain to the left side of my abdomen and my back hurts. I did have a period that lasted 8 days, with heavier bleeding than the daily bleeding. I was told by my doctor's office to give the pills another month to work, but I feel as if I am getting worse. Internet research leads me to believe that perhaps my problem is andenomyosis and I was interested in receiving some feedback. Thanks!
